Connect Halite Recipes to ChatGPT

Halite Recipes lets ChatGPT work with your recipe library, meal plan, shopping lists, pantry and food log. Ask in plain language and ChatGPT makes the change in Halite. Every recipe it touches links back to the app, so you can see the whole thing there.

We're working on getting Halite Recipes listed in ChatGPT's plugin directory. Once it's there, you'll be able to find it and add it from there. Until then, add it yourself with the steps below.

MCP server URL

https://app.halite.cc/api/mcp

Before you start

Connect in four steps

  1. Open ChatGPT's plugins page

Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, select the + button next to the search box, and choose Create custom MCP server. In the box that opens, choose Create MCP App.

  2. Fill in the form

Name it Halite Recipes. Under Connection, leave Server URL selected and paste https://app.halite.cc/api/mcp. Leave Authentication set to OAuth. You don't need to touch the advanced OAuth settings, because ChatGPT sets those up with Halite by itself.

Read the warning, tick I understand and want to continue, then select Create.

  3. Sign in and approve

If ChatGPT asks, install the new plugin and choose Connect. Halite opens and asks you to sign in if you aren't already. It shows which account you're connecting and that access goes back to chatgpt.com. Choose Approve and you're sent back to ChatGPT, connected.

  4. Use it in a chat

Start a new chat, type @, and pick Halite Recipes. Then ask your question.

Things to ask

Find something to cook

“Which of my recipes use lentils?”
“Vegan recipes I've never cooked.”

Change a recipe

“Make the carbonara serve six.”
“Undo that change.”

Save a recipe

“Save this: (paste a link).”
“Write up the curry I just described.”

Plan the week

“Suggest dinners for next week.”
“Move Thursday's dinner to Friday.”

Shop

“Add what I need for Thursday to my list.”
“I've got the eggs and the milk.”

Track what you eat

“Log half the chicken rice for lunch.”
“How much protein have I had today?”

What it can and can't do

Disconnect

In Halite, open Settings → Connected apps and choose Disconnect. ChatGPT loses access right away.

To remove it from ChatGPT too, open Settings → Plugins, pick Halite Recipes, open the ••• menu, and choose Disconnect.

If something's not working

There's no "Create custom MCP server" option

Look for a Developer mode switch in Settings → Security and login and turn it on. Some accounts still need it. If there's no switch, your account doesn't have custom servers yet, or your work or school admin has them turned off.

ChatGPT can look things up but won't make changes

Some plans can only read from custom servers. On those plans you can search your recipes and plan, but edits, shopping-list changes and food logging won't go through.

Halite Recipes doesn't show up when you type @

Start a new chat and try again. If it's still missing, check that it's listed on chatgpt.com/plugins.

ChatGPT says it can't reach Halite, or asks you to sign in again

Your sign-in has probably expired. Connect again from chatgpt.com/plugins. Reconnecting replaces the old connection and doesn't change anything in your library.

Importing a link fails

Check that your email address is verified. Halite sends the link when you sign up, and you can send a new one from the app.

Still stuck

Email support@halite.cc. A person reads every message, usually within a day.
