How to get your recipes out of Samsung Food

Samsung Food has no documented export. Recipes saved from websites keep their ingredients and a link to the method. Save the source links and print the rest.

Last verified . Updated .

Samsung Food's help center does not describe any way to export your recipe library. What you can do is save each recipe's link to the original website and print or copy the recipes you typed or scanned yourself. The links matter most. Samsung says it intentionally does not import a website recipe's instructions (see its recipes FAQ). It keeps the ingredients and links to the original site for the steps.

Samsung launched Samsung Food on August 30, 2023, built on Whisk, which Samsung Next bought in 2019 (Samsung's announcement). The App Store listing still names Whisk's developer, so Whisk users have the same app under a new name.

Steps

There is no export button in Samsung's help pages. These are the routes the help center does describe.

For a recipe you saved from a website, the link to the original page is the part worth keeping.

  1. Open the recipe and choose to edit it in Recipe Builder.
  2. Tap Edit source to see the source name and link.
  3. Copy the link into a note or spreadsheet.

Samsung's Recipe Builder article says you can change or remove the source name and link with Edit source. The Instructions tab also shows the original site inside the app, per Samsung's Recipe Page 101.

Check that each link still works before you leave. If a site has gone away, Samsung's own advice is to type the instructions into Recipe Builder by hand.

  • In the app: open the recipe, tap the three-dot menu at the top right, then choose Print recipe.
  • On the web: use the printer icon on the recipe page, or your browser's print command at app.samsungfood.com.

Your device's print window may offer to save the page as a PDF. Samsung's help does not mention that. It also does not say whether a printout of a website recipe includes the method, and Samsung says it does not store that method. Check one printout before you rely on them.

Copy recipes you wrote or scanned

A recipe you typed into Recipe Builder, or scanned from a photo, is stored as full text: title, description, ingredients, steps, servings, times and photo. Print it or copy the text into another document.

In Saved, open the three dots on a recipe and choose Send recipe. This gives a link and no file. Only the original recipe can be shared. Your edited version cannot. See Samsung's sharing article.

Ask Samsung

Samsung's Security article links its privacy policy for data queries and a support request form, and gives support@samsungfood.com. It does not say what a request returns.

Samsung's Account article lists no export button. Its last update was in February 2025, so your app may differ. If you find an export option in your own Account settings, use it.

What comes out and what does not

  • Website recipes: the title, ingredients, photo and source link stay in the app. The method is not stored.
  • Your own recipes: full text, so you can print or copy it.
  • Your edits: editing a saved recipe makes a separate copy, and the ratings and reviews of the original are dropped from the copy.
  • Notes and reviews, collections, meal plans, pantry: Samsung's help describes no export for these. A collection can be shared as a link, but that does not move its contents anywhere.
  • Shopping lists: Samsung describes printing them: the print icon on the web, or the three-dot menu and Print in the app (shopping lists article).
  • Nutrition and Health Score: Samsung calculates these from the ingredients, so they are estimates, and they only exist inside Samsung Food.

Samsung Food+, the paid plan, does not add an export. Nothing in its feature list is one.

Tips

  • Sign in with the right account first. Samsung says your data may stay on one device if you never connected a Samsung Account. It can be lost if you log out, uninstall, switch to a new phone or clear the app's data, so save your links before you change phones. Logging in through SmartThings can also create a second, empty account. If saved recipes are missing, they may sit under an older login. Samsung support can merge accounts. See Samsung's account FAQ and its linking article, which says linking works on Android (Galaxy) only.
  • Do not delete your account until you have your links. Samsung says deleted data is permanently destroyed and cannot be retrieved. See account deletion.

Where to take your recipes

One app, RecipeFiler, has a page for importing from Samsung Food. It relies on an Export My Data button that Samsung's own help does not mention, and we have not checked it. We found no other recipe app that lists Samsung Food or Whisk. So the realistic path is the original website's link.

  • Plain files. Keep your list of source links in a document, and keep printouts or text copies of recipes you wrote. It costs nothing and works anywhere.
  • Apps that import from a web address. Many recipe apps can read a recipe from its page. They would use the original site's link. How well it works depends on that app and that site. Check each app's own help page.
  • Halite has no Samsung Food importer. If a Samsung Food data file exists, such as a JSON file, Halite's Import menu item would give it a best-effort read with AI, with no promise of a clean result. It keeps a recipe's source link only if the link is written in the file's text for that recipe, and drops anything it cannot find there. To bring recipes in, paste the original website's address into Halite one recipe at a time. Use the original site's address, not the samsungfood.com one, because samsungfood.com sits behind a bot check and we have not confirmed Halite can read it. If a site blocks Halite, paste the recipe's text instead. Halite keeps the address you tried as the recipe's source link. A recipe imported from the original site's address keeps that source and the order of its steps. Halite does not promise the original wording.
